I ALWAYS BELIEVE IN MY STUDENTS

In my 34 years of teaching, I have always believed in my students. I believe that every student in my class is destined for greatness. I am only an instrument of the GREAT CREATOR up there to help my students find their purpose in life. As an educator, I bring out the best in my students. I consider my students as God's gifts to me, and what they become are my gifts back to God. This time through this blogsite, I want to know what is in the heart and soul of my former and present students. I WANT TO KNOW THE GREAT MINDS OF MY STUDENTS WHO HAVE THE CAPABILITIES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THIS WORLD! I love my students, and I love to hear from them. Dr. Nimfa De Vera

You have been a great instrument of God to show me the right path of being a wonderful person. Thank you for showing me the way to almost achieve my dreams. You've showed me, that St. Paul University is my way to sucess of being a professional woman like what I am running now. I can see myself driving my own car, opening the door of my own house. I can see myslef helping my parents on their financial needs, giving them a gift to cruise around the world. I know it will be a wonderful experience for them. I can see myself financing my sister's M.A. tuition fee. You're the one who helped me see that CCD is my way to achieve these goals.

Thank you Dr. De Vera, thank you! You've been such a great blesing to us. Yes! Like you always told us to pray... Lord bless me, so I can be a blessing to others.

The day I went to Saint Paul to inquire about the TCP program, I had no inkling that I would be enrolling for the next term. I just went there to inquire about the program. But when I met Dr. De Vera, I was really inspired by her. She talked to me as if I were destined to become not only a teacher, but a GREAT teacher. I was amazed at her faith in me. Imagine, here is someone who believes in me even though we've just met! I am sure that God directed me to her and I am very thankful that she encouraged me to realize that I can be a teacher.

I was very happy on the first day of school because I found out that Dr. De Vera will be one of my professors. In her class, I have learned a lot of things. I have learned that to be a good teacher, we have to be an inspiration. I have learned by her example. I have realized that having a high IQ does not necessarily make you a good teacher, but that we have to also have high EQ. She treats us like her daughters and every class with her is injected with fun...which is one of the things that she always tells us, to always make learning fun! Sometimes, we're noisy and naughty but she has this way of making negatives turn into positives. She never fails to give us inspiration. She disciplines us using her heart. Someday, I hope that I will be like her.

There is a passage in the bible that says "Blessed are those who have not seen yet believe." Christ celebrated those who believed that He was the Messiah even though they had not seen the holes on His hands or the wounds on His side. He commended them because they had faith in Him and in the mission entrusted to Him by the Father.

At one time or another we may encounter students who seem hard to handle or somewhat impenetrable, as if no one can break through their tough outer layer. But nothing withers a hard rock than a smooth, steady flow of refeshing water. We must be this water for our students, the one that will enlighten them, encourage them, and bring them back to God. This is our task. This is OUR mission. When all is said and done, all glory must be attributed back to God as He is the source of all our blessings.

So as teachers let us believe in our students even if we have not seen... even if their output are often covered in red marks or low grades. We must bear in mind that they are here because God has entrusted a special mission to each of them, as He has with his son Jesus Christ. Let us continue to be supportive, make them feel how much we care and how much we want to help them achieve their dreams. GIVING UP is NOT an option! We have to exert our best effort to guide each student because one day, maybe because of our help, some of them can really change the world for the better.

Hats off to Dr. de Vera for being a living testament to the generosity and commitment that every teacher must have! May you continue to inspire more aspiring teachers like ourselves.

Dear Dr.DE VERA,
I admire how you managed and survive that 34 years of teaching! You see Im still on my way to a teaching career and there are times when i would feel tired and fed up with these things that I do, complaining and stuff yet seeing that you've been teaching for 34 years already burns my passion inside. Those 34 years reflect how you loved and valued your work so much, and i admire you for that.
Anyways, there are times when I get bored with our classroom activities but when i think again, these activities enrich me, our lessons feed my desire to learn everything about education and how to be a good teacher.
There are yet more things to say but let me hold them for a more personal time with you.
If I can be half as the person you are, Im sure i will be a good educator, dedicating my life in feeding and quenching the thirst for knowledge of our Filipino students.
More power to you Doc De Vera!
May God bless you as you have been a blessing to us,
hats off to you:

First of all, I want to congratulate you Dr. De Vera for this is a very nice blog that you allow your students to express their insights and feelings.

As they've said I also want to thank you, because you've taught me a lot of things. These things were really a big help to me as a future educator. You were one of the teachers taught me, that when i become a teacher invest your students not only a wisdom but the important is always the values they can get.

I also want you to know that Im so happy when you said that you believed in our capacities and abilities. That your encouraging words boost my self-confidence. And I promise to myself that when I become an educator I will always encourage my students to believe in their selves.

One of your strategies of teaching that I like most were your inspirational thoughts. I really like this because it feels that Im always in recollection, when you already discuss the thoughts I felt that Im a new person, because of the values i got.

Dr.De Vera thank you for all the values and wisdom you've taught. And I promise you this that I will apply these things always.

And above these all, I want to thank God for letting me experience these things.

Education....
...would always be part of our life. Without it we wont be able to pursue our goals in life.
...it helps us deepen our understanding toward the things or event we encunter in our way.
...it also help us to develop our mind and body to become more responsible and good person inside and out.
...help us make new realizations and insights that would bring good not just to ourselves but also to other people around us.
...help us to live out of ignorance, to think logically and critically.

So, as an educated person what can we do for the improvement of our country?????????

Our country is needing a person who can bring enlightenment, happiness, peacefulness and contentment to the people...

What can we do?????

What can we do is let us be united and do it with the guidance of our Lord and through ......good education.

If education is important, what more to the educator who teach us to learn....

They are also important.
One of those great educators is Dr. De vera.

Miss Thank you so much for teaching us patiently.
Keep up the goodwork
&
MAy God Bless you...

What a wonderful life we have. We have people where we could lean on and shaped our own future. Well, I believe that the best way to achieve everything is that we BELIEVE IN GOD, AFFIRM OUR OWN SUCCESS & TRUST PEOPLE. In my life of schooling I'm so grateful to have people whom I work with, shared my inmost insights and new explorations of the different adventure of what we call LIFE. This is my great privilege to thank the people who touched not only my heart but as well as my whole being. People whom I could really say beautiful and extraordinary gifts from God. Doc, maybe there are times that I failed to understand the different tasks you've given us but as time goes by I realize that I got a mistake. I need to find meaning in everything that I do. But you know Doc, it is through you that I developed that "BELIEVE AND EVERYTHING WILL JUST BE FINE"!In my classes I improved my way of looking at things especially during recitation time.I hope as time passes through you will always give the best to your students and bring out the goodness that they have.God bless and More Power!

God made all things beautiful. There is beauty in everyone and there is potential in everyone. God gave each of us different talents and abilities. And since God never makes mistakes, no one was born without any of these things.

However, I think that these God-given potentials can never be fully developed and can never be put to good use without the help of someone who believes in what the person can do and in what the person can be. Even the most intelligent and capable person needs someone to believe in him. Otherwise, he would not be able to achieve his highest potential.

This is why it is very crucial for teachers to believe in their students. We are here not only to teach concepts but also to bring out the best in our students. We are here to help them discover their hidden talents and potentials. We are here to help them maximize whatever these talents and potentials are, and in so doing, help them realize God's great plan for them.

How are we going to do this? We should not only have faith in our students but we should also show them in deeds and in words that we believe in them.

"You can do it. I know you can!"
"You were born to be great!"
"You are beautiful!"
"You can be anything you want to be."

These are powerful affirmations that will surely encourage and motivate our students and give them enough reason to think, "My teacher believes in me...maybe I'm really worth something." And soon enough, these affirmations will transform their self-doubt into self-confidence, their poor self-esteem into a healthy self-pride! When this happens, the teacher will have planted the seed for greatness, and hopefully and with great possibility the student will one day be able to achieve the purpose of his existence.

Thank you Dr. De Vera for being that kind of teacher to your students. The world needs more teachers like you!

Studying those ancient education of different countries of different people is a really BIG help to me. Because through this I found out that many of the subjects we are taking right now is patterned to the Sparatan education, romans education and athenian education. How grateful I am that I found out that the word "maestra" is came from the word "palaestra" or school in Athens. I also found out that gymnastic is came from the greek word which means "exercise done naked". So, How nice to know where this words came from that we always saw in our school.

Though studying the history of education I also found out that we are lucky that we are here in the Philippines coz children born weak are given a chance to live unlike in Sparta.

Once again I want to thank Dr. de Vera for teaching us once again a a very important things about education. And Im looking forward for an additional knowledge........thanx.

Through studying these we will be able to know those people who have contributed in our education and we will be able to appreciate them. I've learned that some of them were the Spartan, Athenian, Roman. Each of them have contiributed something in our education. Because of the things that I was able to know I appreciate more my education, that I am very blessed and lucky because all of the subjects are equally given to us.

I can really say that I am lucky that I have the opportunity to study, unlike the early time of spartan and Athenian where girls only stayed at home. I am so happy that on my time they already appreciated the importance of girls. In addition, I am thankful that my parents are supportive in my studies. I have come to realize the importance of education just like what my parents are always saying to me, that, “education is the only treasure that no one can take away from me”. In addition, as a future education, I will teach to my students what I have learned.

learning the history of education is very important for us students especially us, the future educators of this world...through the history we will appreciate what the education's goal are...
many realization were brought to me beacuse of the learnings i have which is goes through and through...
- i am so thankful to the Romans for contributing to us their education, because of them we have now a SPEECH subject which enable us to know how to communicate with each other.
- i am also thankful to them for the Roman Numerals that they contribute to us which we are now using in our studies specially in doing our outline...
- i have also realize to appreciate the schedule we have now, inspite of our busy schedule we go to school on time not like before that the schedule of class is from sunrise to sunset.
- if ever i will see Emperor Trajan I will thank him because of him The scholarship Program originated.
- also to Hadrian for giving pension to the teachers...
- to Emperor Vespasian for building the first library...
- i also leran to more appreciate my course because it was the course which took up by Jesus.
- Jesus is so wise that he compiled the commandments into two that were given to us before, for us easily remember and not to do bad things...
- and also i learned to more appreciate my course because of our two ates who shared to us their experiences when they are still in college like us,,,not to get angry to our boses when we are scolded...not to give up because of so many thngs to do... and of course to trust God every now and then and never failed in praying...

What's new?!! In Roman Education and teaching of Jesus???....well, I learned a lot from the ROMANS EDUCATION that they are centered in religious education. Ohh...it’s amazing because Im taking up religious education. And take note to all the readers of this blog because the Romans also have a school name "Ludi" it is a private school. It called as "LUDUS" refers to the subject as play or sports. It means that we only influence from the Romans education because we have also sports here in our school. We do it every Sportsfest or Intrams. We have games like Volleyball which is my favorite game and also basketball. Playing is a good exercise for the healthy body.

They have also Grammar school. They really trained their students and every time they make a mistake the teachers will flogged the student...which we have it already in our curriculum called as speech but there is no more flogging (just kidding) of course the law today is different from that time. They have also a Rhetorical school which they develop the capacity of the student for argumentations and debate and the student required to read widely....it challenge me to read books.

This is not the end bacause there are many contributors in Roman Education. Like Emperor Vespasian advocated for the payment of the salaries. Trajan he provide scholarship for the poor students and I thank trajan because of
Him there is a scholarship offered here in St. Paul and im part of this scholarship. Marcus Aurelius Establishment of a salary scale for teachers. Hadrian he contributed also in paying pensions for the retired teachers. Thank you so Much for these contributors....

In teaching of Jesus Christ is a good example for me because as a religious education it helps me a lot... now im very proud for being a religious education because I studied more about Jesus and His teaching...Although Jesus is knowledgeable with the old he taught something new with his own positive doctrine base on his personal authority. Jesus started to use the word "I" instead of according to. Jesus is a good teacher and good example because he did what he said. For Jesus looking for the past is not important but repentance and forgiveness is the most important.

"YOU NEED ENDURANCE TO DO THE WILL OF GOD AND RECEIVE WHAT HE HAS PROMISED"

God Bless to all the readers and more power!!!

I'm happy with the topic of Christian Education.Sr. Evelyn reported about the taechings of Jesus.Jesus is a very loving and good teacher in their time.He teaches us how to forgive and love one another.Jesus gave us two commandments,Love your God with all your strength, mind and soul, and love your neighbor as you love yourself.I'm very lucky because I take up religious education and that is the course of Jesus.I realized that Jesus is very good teacher with us when I'm a teacher someday I will teach them a good values and love each of every one.Forgive those who sin against you.Love and respect one another because we are human being and we are created by God.

Blueface is here again to give an insights about our discussion on Jesus teaching.:

As we all know Jesus is our Savior, the Redeemer, the only Son of God. But did you know that He was also a Great Teacher that we should make Him as our model in teching especially to the future teacher like me.

His work is admirable for He teach of what is essential to our life....that is to strengthen our Faith to God.

In his time He teach by traveling into the village. He teach the people through His miracles and Parables.

But what is the important things that we should put in our mind that He did:
1st, He teach for free. He doesn't ask for a payment, but to believe in God and to strengthen our FAith to Him.
2nd, He didn't make a miracle just to amazed the people or uplift His ownself but what He always telling is It is for His Father.
3rd, He teach the sinners for He believe that they will be good.
4th, the center of His teaching is LOVE...for one another.

So what we are waiting for let us spread the love that Jesus give to us & the life that he offered in His PaschalMystery. Let's love & respect one another and make Him as a center of our life. That was the only thing we can do for His suffering and sacrifice for the Humanity.

Thanx Dr. De vera for the additional knowledge we gain from you about JESUS.

We have discussed the early Christian education last Saturday, and it was really interesting especially that we are taking up religious education. As we go on the discussion, I really appreciate the way Jesus teaches people. He considers the needs of the crowd, by going everywhere and not asking for any payments. He also considers the status or the level of understanding the people have that time by making simple instruction, simple way of teaching and also by using parables which the people can relate to. And I just said to my self that Jesus is the great teacher of all.
